I recently tried Nature’s Path Organic Gluten Free Crispy Rice Bites are aimed at children (but they’re pretty yummy for adults too…) and had to share them with you… for once there are some really interesting flavours to try out, so none of your usual overly-chocolatey, artificial flavouring or over-crowded fruit bars, these are balanced, rice cereal bars, so a gluten free AND healthy version of something I’ve been missing for a long time (I’ll let you guess what I’m referring to…)

I liked that the bars aren’t tiny as most gluten free bars tend to be, and also, when I checked out the nutrition information, it was actually acceptable… as in there wasn’t nearly 400 calories in a tiny little bar, instead, there was under 200 for a very decent sized serving, packed full of flavour and a good size too!

The bars come in four flavours and will be available in Waitrose… I can’t wait to get some in, my favourite was the Peanut Butter one, but I also tried the Berry flavour and the Chocolate flavour! So, lots to choose from, and for kids, this is great as there is quite a limited choice on child-friendly gluten free products suitable for lunch boxes, snacking on the go, or for having in your handbag for those ‘emergency’ moments when you’re out and there’s no gluten free food around.

Packaging-wise, I like the fact that a lot of bright colour are used, as this is obviously targeting the children that the product is aimed at, but don’t worry if you want to stick one in your lunchbox too as it hasn’t got any popular cartoon characters on it (not that that has ever stopped me from grabbing a treat…) Also, the packaging makes reference to the ‘Organic’ nature of the products which for me is a bonus as its always nice to know that what you’re eating isn’t packed full of nasty chemicals and other unwanted mass-market sugary substances!
