You may have seen me tweeting about this, as, I said that when I got to 100 followers, I would let you in on a little challenge I have been planning.
It’s something i’ve been wanting to do for age, but now have decided that, with a little support and encouragement, I CAN DO IT.
I’m going to be baking/making/cooking/creating recipes from all my favourite chefs. These are recipes that the chefs are either most ‘famous’ for, are their own ‘favourite’ recipes or that have been voted as the most ‘popular’ on their online. For now, I have a list of nine chefs whose recipes I am going to be attempting to turn:
ALWAYS wheat & gluten free
SOMETIMES dairy free
So, with a little help from my lovely boyfriend who I have floated the idea past (he will have to be chief onion chopper if I require onions for anything as I end up looking like the Corpse Bride or an extra from whatever Vampire series is currently the ‘trend’ right now… not a good look!)
I aim to make such things as:
PUFF PASTRY! Yepp… i’m gonna try it!!
A CHRISTMAS CAKE! I don’t even like fruit cake, but I want to see if my taste buds have ‘grown up’ as, last time I tried it was before they whipped wheat and gluten from under my feet, so Christmas Cake got banished to the great ‘i don’t like that, it looks weird and smells strange’ cupboard of childhood food shuns…
PASTIES (hard to get the pastry to filling ratio right anyway, so we’ll see how trying to do this gluten-free works out… eek!)
THANKSGIVING (yes I am from the UK, no, I have never celebrated, but I know a few people who want to celelbrate it this year, and i’ve already started planning my recipes out… so get excited)
CHILLI JAM & SPICED NUTS (christmas pressies later down the line)
So, that’s the challenge. More deets to come. Just wanted to introduce you to what i’ll be doing over the weeks leading up to Christmas. I’ll be trying different things out, making things for the holiday – Halloween, Bonfire Night, Thanksgiving, Christmas… woo I love the Autumn and Winter for the holiday madness!
I need suggestions and comments, and feel free to send me anything you want me to include in my trials – recipes, products you recommend, people you think I should speak to, places I should visit for inspiration.
I’ll be documenting EVERYTHING.
