Lainston House and their scones!

Scones (I say it like One but with ‘Sc’ in front of if it… just in case you’re wondering and to settle any doubt that may be niggling away in your mind) are one of my favourite treats. Sweet or savoury, I just love the texture… or I did, before someone decided to tell me that my body hates wheat and gluten! And from that point four years ago, I didn’t eat one again (yes, this is a sad start to a story, I know, I too was very emotional about the departing of this versatile snack from my diet, fear not, the story gets better…). That is until I went to Lainston House this Christmas and was bowled over by their excellent gluten free food.

The most amazing thing started the whole stay off though - high tea! And I got to have my very own gluten free high tea!! Complete with sandwiches, cakes, jam, cream and SCONES! Yes, I got to have a gluten free scone! At last!!

As soon as I was home, I was tweeting about this wonder, and, kindly, Lainston House sent me over the recipe! So of course I had to have a go at making some. They were delicious (of course not as good as the ones I had at the hotel…!!) Because I was so happy with how they turned out, I had to share these pictures with you:

Here’s one my sister snapped on her fancy camera…

This is me being super happy because I have scones in my life (of course nothing to do with Christmas, the gorgeous hotel you can see in the background, or the new boots I’m wearing… they’re from Zara incase you need to rush out and grab a pair!):

I think I’m now going to have to try making some Cheese Scones to see how they turn out… just need to figure out how to adapt the recipe to savoury rather than sweet!
